Chief Meteorologist Jeff Lyons to Visit Cairo Elementary
WFIE 14 News Chief Meteorologist Jeff Lyons will visit fourth grade students at Cairo Elementary on
February 7, 2012 at 1:00 p.m.
For the past five years Jeff Lyons has visited Cairo Elementary. Each year he speaks to the fourth graders at the end of their science unit on weather. He includes a multimedia presentation to reinforce concepts of weather forecasting, the water cycle, the types of clouds, and being prepared for severe weather. Mr. Lyons also emphasizes the importance of education and how he came to be a meteorologist.
"Mr. Lyons’ interactive, engaging presentations always help our students see that science is everywhere," said fourth grade teacher Brooke Shappell.
In November, Cairo students sold Market Day pies as a fundraiser. The top selling
students had the opportunity to participate in a pie eating contest.
Some students chose not to participate, but selected a
staff member to compete for them.
Congratulations to Cairo's Rotary Field Teams
for their 5th place finish!
We are proud of you!
Every Friday is Cairo Spirit Day!
