March 2 - 6 is No "R" Word week, with a full assembly and floor hockey game on Tuesday, March 3rd. During this time we will "Spread the Word to End the Word"™ and build awareness for the society to stop and think about its' use of the R-word. Use of the R-word, "retard" or "retarded", is hurtful and painful and whether intended or not, is a form of bullying. Most people don't think of this word as hate speech, but that's exactly what it feels like to millions of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, their families and friends. The R-word is just as cruel and offensive as any other slur. Please visit www.r-word.org to make your pledge today. Eliminating the use of this word is a step toward respect.

We would also like to thank Tony Gager at "Signs Design" for donating a large "No R-word Week" banner for our students and staff to sign when committing to not using the R-word.

Congratulations to DJ Banks, Deegan Lawrence, Alex Chandler and Luke Payne for winning the regional competition for the 2015 national Science Bowl! They are advancing to compete in the National Finals in Washington, D.C. in April. Great job team!
