North Middle School Interim Principal Named
An interim principal has been appointed as the acting administrator for North Middle School. Effective Monday, May 7, Mr. Darrell Daigle will fulfill the duties assigned the position of principal set forth by board policy and the KRS regulations. Mr. Daigle is a former English teacher, dean of students, and assistant principal at Henderson County High School. During the last four years, he has served at the district office as Director of Secondary Education and currently serves as the Executive Director of Academic Services and Research. He will fill the interim principal position at North Middle until a permanent replacement can be named.
 
Niagara Elementary Interim Principal to Complete School Year
In March 2012, an interim principal was appointed as the acting administrator for Niagara Elementary School. Ms. Paige O’Nan was selected to fulfill the duties assigned the position of principal. Ms. O’Nan has served the district as a former elementary teacher and curriculum specialist. Her most recent position has been that of District Reading Specialist. She will fill the interim principal position at Niagara until a permanent replacement can be named.

Henderson County Academy will conduct its graduation ceremony on Tuesday, May 29, at 6:00 p.m. in the South Middle School auditorium. In anticipation of next week’s state testing, Henderson County Schools are conducting many pre-testing motivational activities as well as activities (at some schools) to continue the testing momentum.

The Henderson County High School Athletic Department has begun the process of selecting a Head Boys’ Basketball Coach. A selection committee has been chosen to screen applications and assist with the interviews. Community input is requested: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/HCHSbball. The deadline for participating is April 30th at 3:30 p.m.
The tentative timeline of activities associated with the search is as follows:
· April 30 1st Selection Committee Meeting
· May 1-4 Selection Committee Screen Applications
· May 7-18 Interviews
· May 21 Announcement of New Boys’ Basketball Coach

Due to voting verification, South Middle School will be conducting a second SBDM parent election on May 1, 2012 from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the school.

Kindergarten Registration
Kindergarten registration for the 2012-2013 school year begins during the week of March 19 - 23 at each child's home school. To register a child for kindergarten, parents must have the following documentation as required by the Kentucky Department of Education:

  • State-issued copy of the child's birth certificate 
  • Updated KY Immunization Certificate
  • Current physical on Kentucky forms - Parents have 30 days from enrollment to complete and provide to the school.
  • Vision exam - required by January 1st
  • KY Dental Screening Exam - required by January 1st
