“We believe this is an opportune teaching moment for our students. We have been looking at different ways to incorporate the eclipse into our curriculum. NASA has provided an online toolkit which has been a great resource for our teachers, ” states Jo Swanson, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning.
Eclipse activity books for elementary school classrooms have been ordered, and all students in Henderson County Schools will receive a pair of solar eclipse glasses to safely view the event. “We are also working with Henderson Community College on how to arrange for some of our students to attend the lecture and viewing party at the Preston Arts Center,” Swanson adds.
Henderson County Schools will continue to provide updates and coverage of eclipse activities planned across the district through social media and the Henderson County Schools website.
