THE READ A MILLION CHALLENGE
Purpose and Vision
- Encourage students to read outside of the classroom
- School, parents and community work together to read one million pages this school year
Rules of the Game
- Students track how many pages read (includes everyone in their family)
- Staff and Community are also included
- Count pages or minutes
- If reading a newspaper, 1 minute equals 1 page
- Honor System
- Encourage honesty and integrity
Record Keeping
- Each participant will be given a record keeping card
- Cards will be turned in every Monday to Homeroom teachers
- Cards will be given to Mrs. Wells who will total weekly results
- Progress Thermometer will be posted in media center
