Parents: a couple places we need your help: your child must return the viewing permission slip to school that would allow them to view the eclipse. It is your choice as parents to allow the viewing or not. We have secured enough certified eclipse glasses for every student and staff member. And parents, we ask that you also talk to your kids about the dangers of directly looking at the sun...any day there is a danger. But we know that during a solar eclipse, the sun will be partly blocked by the moon, making it less bright. This tricks your eyes into being able to look at the sun for an extended period of time.
Lastly, if you plan to take your child on trip to view the eclipse somewhere different than at school, please request an EHO from the school so the absence will be excused and will not count as one of your parent notes.
Our teachers have been planning special science activities for Monday. School officials will be watching traffic throughout the weekend and if we need to make a change to our regular school schedule we are prepared to communicate immediately. Thank you for your help.
