Elementary Services for elementary gifted students are provided in a variety of ways. For students gifted in a non-cognitive area, students meet weekly for a marking period in workshop groups on projects and activities related to their gifted areas. 4th and 5th grade GT Leadership students will meet weekly from August - October..Drama students will meet from October - February. Creativity students will meet from February - May. GT Art students will have 3 days of art instruction with art instructors at Audubon Park in November, with an Art Expo in December.
Students gifted in a Cognitive area (General Intellect, Math, English/Language Arts, etc.) can receive gifted services in a variety of ways as well. The Gifted Specialist works in consultation with the classroom teachers to provide challenging activities and instruction to best meet the needs of the gifted students. This may include a pullout class in addition to differentiated and enriching classroom activities. These students are clustered together in Gifted Strand classrooms.
