Cindy Williams

As we celebrate Black History Month, we pause to honor and remember Cindy Williams, whose impact on Henderson County Schools and the greater Henderson community continues to be felt.

Cindy began her career with Henderson County Schools in 1988 and faithfully served the district for 31 years. Throughout her career, she held many roles, including Administrative Assistant, Director of Publications, Community Outreach Coordinator, and Public Relations Officer. She was a graduate of Henderson Community College and Western Kentucky University.

Cindy was deeply committed to excellence in school communications and leadership. She was an active member of the Kentucky School Public Relations Association, serving as a Board Member, Secretary, Treasurer, and President. Her work earned numerous honors, including the KYSPRA/KSBA OASIS Outstanding Achievement in School Information Services Award and an Outstanding School Photography Award. In 1999, she was selected as a Fellow of the Commonwealth Institute for Parent Leadership through the Prichard Committee for Academic Excellence.

Her service extended across many areas of the district. Cindy served as Volunteer Coordinator, Multicultural Coordinator, Arts in the Schools Coordinator, District Photographer, ABA Cheer Coordinator, and Community Education and Outreach Coordinator for Henderson County Schools.

Beyond the district, Cindy was deeply involved in the community, serving on boards and committees including United Way, Salvation Army, Downtown Henderson Partnership, Methodist Hospital, American Cancer Society, Leadership Henderson, and the Henderson Area Arts Alliance. She also served as an assistant cheerleading coach for North Middle School and Henderson County High School cheer programs.

Cindy Williams passed away in 2019, but her legacy of service, leadership, and community connection lives on. She is now honored on the Henderson Women’s Honor Court, a lasting recognition of her dedication to Henderson County Schools and this community.
