Henderson County Schools -

Any student that does NOT reside in Henderson County but wishes to apply to attend school in Henderson County for the 2026-2027 school year must complete this application for acceptance.  Students of District employees will have first priority over other applicants.  Nonresident Applications will be accepted from April 1 - July 5, 2026.

Please be aware:

-Students of District employees will have first priority over other applicants.

- If the school requested is at capacity and/or the requested grade level classroom cap size has been met, then the family will be notified and provided the names of the schools that are not yet at capacity as options to the requested school.  

-When all factors are equal, date/time of application submission will determine acceptance.

-This Nonresident Application applies to Grades K-12 only.  Thelma B Johnson Preschool and The Central Academy Alternative School are not included in this process.

-This application is in effect for the 26-27 school year only.  Students/Families must reapply every school year.

-Transportation will NOT be provided by HCS for nonresident pupils. Parent / Guardian must provide all transportation.

-Athletics:  KRS 156.070(2)(h) states that any student who transfers enrollment from a district of residence to a nonresident district under KRS 157.350(4)(b) shall be ineligible to participate in interscholastic athletics for

one (1) calendar year from the date of the transfer. For questions surrounding the implementation of this provision, please contact the KHSAA.
