pottery at empty bowls event

Central Academy will host an Empty Bowls lunch on Friday, April 3rd from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. For a $10.00 donation, attendees will receive a sandwich provided by Jimmy Johns, a dessert provided by Crumbl Cookie, a bowl of soup, and a piece of pottery made by Central Academy and South Heights Elementary School students. All proceeds from the Empty Bowls event will directly support the Backpack Program, ensuring that students have access to meals outside of school hours.

“At Central Academy, we serve students who are in the process of bettering themselves in an alternative educational setting.  We are a trauma-informed school that works to remove any possible barriers our students may face. One of the barriers that our students regularly face is hunger.  Approximately 99% of our school population qualifies for the free/reduced lunch program. This event provides awareness of our school and the needs our students face.” states Lindsay Thompson, Principal of Central Academy.

In addition to this event, donations of non-perishable, single-serve food items are accepted throughout the school year.
