Henderson County Schools Special Education Department invites parents, private school representatives, and community members to attend the Special Education Child Find Annual Meeting on Wednesday, May 6th, at 8:00 AM. The meeting will take place at the Center for Support Services, located behind the Board of Education building.
This meeting provides an opportunity for stakeholders to offer input on the special education services available to parentally-placed IDEA-eligible students attending private or home schools within the district for the 2026-2027 school year.
During the 2025-2026 school year, speech and language services were provided to eligible students, with service delivery determined by the Admission and Release Committee (ARC). The upcoming meeting will include discussions on the child find process, equitable participation in special education services, and the consultation process between the school district, private school officials, and parents.
Pursuant to law, the public school district makes the final determination regarding the items we are consulting you about, as private school students or parentally- placed private school students do not have a right to the same IDEA services students would receive if attending public school. However, we wish to have meaningful input from you concerning our decision.
