Mr Ryan Maher

Henderson County Schools is proud to announce Ryan Maher as the new principal of East Heights Elementary. Maher brings 20 years of experience in education to the role, including experience as an assistant principal, instructional coach, and elementary classroom teacher. Throughout his career, he has focused on supporting students, teachers, and families while building strong relationships and positive school communities.

Maher has served as an assistant principal at both Central Academy and Spottsville Elementary and previously worked as a Student Services/Instructional Coach at Central Academy. His teaching experience includes Kindergarten, second grade, and fifth grade, along with experience as a Title I Math Specialist and Curriculum Coach. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from Pittsburg State University and a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Scranton.

“I am excited and honored to join the East Heights Elementary family!” said Maher. “This year marks my 20th year in education, and I am grateful for the many opportunities I have had to grow as an educator and serve students, families, and staff. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of teaching Kindergarten, 2nd grade, and 5th grade, as well as serving as an Instructional Coach. Most recently, I served as an Assistant Principal at Central Academy, where I continued to grow my passion for supporting students, teachers, and school communities. Each of these experiences has shaped who I am as an educator and strengthened my belief that every child deserves to feel valued, supported, and capable of success. I am especially excited to bring my experience and enthusiasm to East Heights while learning from the incredible students, staff, and families who make this school special. I look forward to building relationships, becoming an active part of the community, and working alongside the East Heights team to make this a wonderful year for our students. I am thrilled to be joining the East Heights family and cannot wait to get started!”

Henderson County Schools Superintendent Bob Lawson adds, “We are pleased to welcome Mr. Maher as the next principal of East Heights Elementary. As East Heights continues to move forward with construction and renovation, Mr. Maher’s leadership, enthusiasm, and commitment to building strong relationships will be important as the school enters this new chapter. His background in both classroom instruction and school leadership makes him a great fit to lead East Heights as we continue to pursue excellence.”
