There will be NO SCHOOL on Friday, February 28th, or Monday, March 3rd. These dates were originally built into our school calendar as potential make-up days and will remain days off.
Due to the winter weather in our area, Friday, February 21st, will be an NTI (Non-Traditional Instruction) Virtual Day for all students.
Child Care centers will be open at East Heights Elementary, Bend Gate Elementary School, and Thelma B. Johnson Early Learning Center. Please remember to bring your child's Chromebook with them to childcare.
Each school will be sharing their specific NTI plans with families.

HCS WILL start school this morning on Regular Schedule.
Considering the weather forecasted for our area, today will be an Early Dismissal Day.
Elementary and preschool will release at 1:00 p.m. and middle schools and the high school will release at 2:00p.m.
Childcare will close at 4:00p.m.
As you may be aware, a winter storm is expected to impact our area. Our priority is to have school in session; however, we will be out early in the morning assessing road conditions. We will communicate our final decision with families by 5:30 a.m. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we prioritize the safety of our students and staff.
Due to the winter weather predicted for our area tomorrow, Tuesday, February 11th, will be an NTI (Non-Traditional Instruction) Virtual Day. Additionally, all childcare centers will be closed. This NTI day will also provide ample time to thoroughly clean and disinfect our schools due to recent illness. Each school will share its NTI plans with families.
📅 Non-resident school applications for Henderson County Schools will open on April 1st! Kentucky’s open enrollment policy allows K-12 students to apply for admission to public schools outside of their assigned district.

Due to the snow and ice still remaining on some of our roadways and sidewalks, Henderson County Schools will be on a one-hour delay on Monday, January 13th. This delay will allow for improved road visibility and safer travel for everyone tomorrow morning.

Our dedicated staff have been working tirelessly to clear parking lots, sidewalks, and debris & limbs around each of our schools. Their hard work ensures our facilities are safe and ready when it’s time to welcome students back to school!
Due to the winter weather affecting the roads and sidewalks in our area, Thursday, January 9th and Friday, January 10th will be NTI (Non-Traditional Instruction) Virtual Days for Henderson County Schools. Additionally, all childcare centers will be closed for the remainder of the week.
As a reminder, tomorrow January 6, there will be no school. Additionally, all HCS childcare centers will be closed tomorrow, January 6. The board of education office will be closed with staff working remotely.
In the coming days, it is likely that we will be utilizing NTI as our mode of instruction. Please begin to make preparations should we have to do NTI beginning Tuesday, January 7.
