Substitute Information

Certified Substitute Qualifications

If chosen to be a substitute teacher, you must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Application completed online with references listed.

  • Once hired you will receive an email with instructions on how to complete your new hire forms online. It will include the checklist below:

    • Official transcript showing high school completion or college transcript showing total hours of college credit        

    • Physical examination/TB risk assessment using the Medical Examination of School Employees Form

    • Crime check  [HCS will pay the fee when completed in our office. If there is anything that comes back as questionable, you will need to submit further information to the Kentucky Educational Professional Standards Board.]

    • Drug screening

    • Submit a CAN check from the Cabinet for Health and Family Services stating you are clear to hire and have no findings of substantiated child abuse or neglect. ($10 fee payable only by debit/credit card that is reimbursed.) Fill out form HERE. Please list tonya.cox@henderson.kyschools.us as the recipient.

Classified Substitute Qualifications

Classified positions needing substitutes include secretaries/bookkeepers, childcare, instructional assistants, lunchroom monitors, cooks, custodians, bus drivers, bus monitors and nurses.

    • High school diploma, GED or its equivalent

    • Physical examination/TB risk assessment using the Medical Examination of School Employees Form

    • Crime check (HCS will pay the fee when completed in our office.)

    • Drug screening
