Paraprofessionals
Paraprofessionals are those who are paid for an extra service position for Henderson County Schools. Typically this is for athletics or extracurricular afterschool activities.
Paraprofessionals are not full time employees of the district and will not receive benefits.

Your application will be reviewed by the school principal, athletic director and the human resources department. Upon hire, you will be sent an email that contains a login to TalentEd Records. Once logged in, you will find a checklist of items to complete. Once complete, you will make an appointment with Tonya Cox, Henderson County Schools Sub Coordinator, to complete the hiring process.
If selected as a Paraprofessional, you must complete the following PRIOR to working with students:
Once hired, you will receive an email with instructions on how to complete your new hire forms online. It will include the checklist below:
Physical Examination & TB risk assessment (See bottom of page for form. Please know that a TB test is not always required. It depends on the results of the risk assessment.)
Drug Screening ($20 fee) (See bottom of page for info.)
Criminal Background check ($53.25 fee) (District service code and instructions on how to schedule will be included in your online hire forms.)
Submit a CAN check letter from the Cabinet for Health and Family Services stating you are clear to hire and have no findings of substantiated child abuse or neglect. $10 fee payable only by debit/credit card. Fill out form HERE. Please list tonya.cox@henderson.kyschools.us as the recipient.

If you are a paraprofessional coach listed on a KHSAA athletic roster, KHSAA Bylaw 25 requirements also apply. Documentation must be provided to school Athletic/Activities Director: [note: Typically this does not apply to elementary or middle school coaches.]
Hold a current CPR/AED certification with a first aid certification
Complete the sport specific rules clinic annually at www.khsaa.org
Take the Fundamentals of Coaching class online (one time course)
Complete the concussion and heat acclimatization/heat illness training
If a coach does not have 64 college credit hours, the following additional online course requirements apply (one time course). [Coaches without 64 hours of college credit MUST complete the Fundamentals of Coaching course prior to performing any coaching duties.]
Engaging Effectively with Parents
Teaching and Modeling Behavior
Teaching Sports Skills OR a Sports Specific Course

Pay Information
Deadlines for parapro pay:
· For December 15, 2025 payment, deadline is December 1, 2025.
· For June 30, 2026 payment, deadline is June 1, 2026.
· If a form is received after those deadlines, there will not be a guarantee of payment for that pay period.
· Note: If you are a new parapro, the first pay form will come from Tonya Cox. When the parapro has completed all new hire requirements, she sends the form to the AD to sign and then it is sent to Jinger Carter. After that initial form, it is the responsibility of the parapro/AD to assure forms are submitted.
Which form do I use?
· Parapro pay form – a person with no other job position in the school system. Will have option to be paid in December or June. Note: If the season has not officially started, December is not an option to receive full payout.
· If the person is a classified employee, they have the option of being paid monthly, or in certain installments. A coach cannot receive entire payout prior to season occurring. [Example: Employee being paid entire track stipend by December when season starts officially in spring.]
· Certified employees – will not complete a pay form. Once their name is listed on the Extra Service sheet, they will receive that stipend in equal increments each pay period. Note: If the staff member does not perform the duties, they must repay the money. If the staff member has performed some of the duties, the new parapro will receive the prorated amount for the remainder of the season.

What is the process for completing these pay forms?
· Parapro signs form and submits to AD/Principal.
· AD signs and sends to HR Director via courier or email.
· HR Director signs and give to payroll for processing.
